Listen to this episode of my podcast here:
What are busy bags?
They are bags or boxes that contain activities to keep your child busy during travel, waiting for appointments, or any other time they need to be occupied and you want something different from a tablet. You can put these activities into a zip lock, zippered, or Velcro bag. Or, you can put them in a box such as a lunch box, pencil box, or plastic take out food container box.
You will need:
Art busy bag- crayons or markers, stickers, index cards, paper and/or notepads.
All of these materials you can get at a dollar store, so it is a low cost activity. You can cut up pieces of scrap paper or use free notepads you may receive in the mail, conferences, or anything else. This can be used as free coloring so your child can make whatever they want.
You can create activities by preparing things on index cards (which you can also get at the dollar store). On the index cards, you can write or draw dots for your child to trace letters, numbers, or shapes. You can also write them out for your child to copy on their own sheet. For students who are learning Fry or Dolch sight words, you can also do this by writing out words and have your child trace or copy the words.
Here are the links for Fry and Dolch Sight words you can use for tracing activities:

This busy activity is super easy and fast to make. Just don't forget to grab it for any trip, appointment, or restaurant this summer!
